Bean Coffee Bar can be found on Park Avenue, Deal Kent and is run by David and Rob. They serve Lost Sheep Speciality Coffee, cakes, freshly baked pastries, and bagels and also by night serve alcoholic beverages.

In our interview below, you’ll find out how Bean Coffee Bar came about, what the most popular way their customers enjoy Lost Sheep Coffee is, and what three words to best describe the business.

Let’s get to know them, shall we?

  1. What’s your story?
We’re David and Rob.  We met in London about 7 years ago, got married 5 years after that, and now live in Kingsdown with our 3 dogs: Boo, Tiggs and Lewie.
As we got to know each other, we realised one of the biggest things we had in common is we are very social people, and we love to host friends and family.  Rob always said his ideal job would be working as a pub landlord.  And David always said he wanted to own a Boutique B&B.  So hospitality is something we both enjoy and know we can do together.  And of course, we both love coffee, and an occasional drink at the end of a long day.
Deal has a lot of good cafes on the high street but we knew there were plenty of serious coffee lovers to go around and wanted to bring our own bit of sunshine to a quieter section of Deal.  A lot of people were sceptical about the location, but we felt that the area deserved something special, and we were right.  We found one of Deal’s best-kept secrets – it’s a wonderfully supportive community and we love being here.  So Bean at Victoria Park was born!
  2. What made you choose Lost Sheep Coffee as your coffee provider?
In the run-up to opening, we researched and tasted a lot of different coffees.  It was important for us to source as local as possible.  Eventually, we were pointed in the direction of Lost Sheep Coffee in Whitstable.  We love the coffee! And we love that they only source speciality beans and ensure farmers are paid fairly.  And once we met Stuart and the team, we knew it was the right match for Bean, and we couldn’t wait to bring it to Deal.
  3. What’s the most popular way your customers enjoy their Lost Sheep Coffee?
Lattes are probably the most popular coffee with milk- but equally, there are lots of people who enjoy it straight up – Espresso and Long Black!
  4. Other than the great coffee, why should people visit?
Bean is an extension of our own home – welcoming, relaxed, cool and fun.  Ensuring customers have a great experience when they visit and want to return time and time again is our top priority.
  5. If you weren’t at Bean Coffee Bar, what would you be doing?
We’d be looking around for another hospitality investment opportunity in Deal, maybe a boutique B&B, or even a Bean 2!
  6. Three-word summary…
    Quality, Friendly, Inclusive

If you find yourself in Deal, we highly recommend you pay these guys a visit. They’ve got a great little place, and we know you guys will love it!
